Eileen Carey Tackles Country Music with Decidely West Coast Style
Aug 3,2009

Los Angeles-based country singer Eileen Carey has unleashed her new radio single, Out With the Girls, to positive responses, including airplay on more than 100 U.S. stations thus far.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Carey got her start as one of the original "Uh-Huh" girls performing with Ray Charles as part of his national Diet Pepsi TV campaign (including an appearance at the Super Bowl). These days, though, she's forging her place on the West Coast music scene as an award-winning songwriter and recording artist.

Red-head Carey's new single is contained on her latest record, Movin' On, which is available now through iTunes and all major digital outlets, and the follow-up song to That Was Her, This Is Now, a tune that scored the "Country Song of the Year" honor at the 2009 South Bay Music Awards in L.A. (It's also a woman's take on a number previously cut by Keith Urban.)

In addition to her latest country-music venture, Carey--who is working mom to two--also recently launched The Music Mom blog (www.themusicmom.com) as a place for women to share their stories and learn from each other. Still in development, the blog site reportedly will address a variety of topics for mothers who are also aspiring songwriters, musicians and performers.
