NCC Interview:

NCC: Who influenced you (family or singer) to be involved in music professionally?

EC: I used to listen to my older sister's records. I just loved music. In school I was in the choir & theater. As for the singers I'd say Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Sheryl Crow and Keith Urban. I'm inspired by all of their own style of songwriting, performing voices, and passion.

NCC: Why did you choose to move to LA to begin your Musical career?

EC: When I first moved to LA I was working in Hotel Food & Beverage Management. I was the one who was hiring the Entertainment. The more I worked with the artist and bands, the more I was drawn to performing. Then I started acting & writing, as well as taking classes in theater, film and television.

NCC: When you came to Nashville- what was different or maybe a surprise in the musical culture for you?

EC: One of the things that really surprised me was that I thought all country artists wrote their own songs!! I was impressed by how many songwriters and publishing companies are in Nashville and how much country music has expanded. It gives me the opportunity to fully express my artistry.

NCC: Working as an indie artist- how has that helped you in your music?

EC: Working as an indie artist I learned a lot about the in's and outs of the music business. I have learned to be careful and choose great partners and assistance. Like hiring the right publicist, manger, radio promoters, producers and marketing. These are the people who get me right exposure for my music.
Choosing the right co-writers for each song is also important; each has their own identity so each writer/musician has to connect with that song.
You got to have the right band members to bring your song alive to connect with your audience. There is so much to learn in this business, especially if you are acting as your own record label. You have to always keep tuning your craft!
Its been a very exciting year for me I won "Americana Album of the Year” at the 2009 L.A. Music Awards; and also “Song of the Year ” at the 2009 South Bay Music Awards. I was also recently featured on California Adventure TV in Los Angeles. It's great to be recognized by the Music Industry.

NCC: Do you operate a Twitter, FB, or online portal to keep in touch with the fans? Any special giveaways with those?

EC: Yes I use both. I love it! It’s a great way to connect with your fans and meet new ones all over the world. I have a new website out www.themusicmom.com where all Moms have a place to come and network.
We're about to start an "Out with the Girls" Dance Club Promotion! Giveaways will include copies of the single "Out with the Girls" Dance Mix, t-shirts and more. To that end, we're looking for free local event sponsors, salons, clothing, getaways, cosmetics, movies, etc.
to give out at each of these "Girls Night Out" events.

NCC: So far, what has been a song you have enjoyed performing live? Why is that special?

EC: Well there's a few "Out With The Girls,” whose meaning is that all girls – poor, young, rich, and old – all need a night out on the town!
and "Mr. Right Now" is about just having fun in your present relationship…with no ties.

NCC: What's next in 2010 that you plan to do in your career, musically or otherwise?

EC: Working on a New CD, and going forward with the "Out With The Girls” Dance Mix Club Promotion. A U.S. Tour is also in the works for 2010. And working with film and TV.

NCC: Do you write your own music? If so, how has that been special in your artistic development?

EC: Yes I do write!! And I love working with Co-writers. This is where I do my best work. I love sharing each others' creativity. I always think of each song as a mini-movie, having their own identity. I also really enjoy singing other writers' songs. I sing them as true and passionately as my own.
